Well, Coach Hamburger did a less than adequate job of keeping the blog updated this year. Doesn't mean lots of great stuff didn't happen, I was just caught up in experiencing it and not documenting it here. Not good for our dedicated fans...
We had significant success at ACC's this year, with both the women and men moving up a spot from last year's team finish. We, unfortunately, didn't qualify any swimmers or divers for The Show.
Women
Senior Keren Siebner finished 5th in the 100 fly, marking the highest individual place since 2008. We set several team records on the women's side at ACCs:
100 fly (Jordan Evans: 53.79)
200 IM (Jordan Evans: 2:01.09)
200 Free Relay (Weber, Siebner, Riley, Mason: 1:31.74)
800 Free Relay (Broadley, Weber, White, Hatteberg: 7:15.43)
200 Medley Relay (Hatteberg, Berg, Evans, Siebner: 1:41.57)
Men
Freshmen Andrew Kosic set a team record of 43.23 in the 100 freestyle. (For those interested, the slowest 100 freestyle to make men's NCAA's was 43.11.) Junior Brandon Makinson also set a new varsity record on the 1-meter with 375.0 points good for second place at ACCs. Sophomore Sophomore Anton Lagerqvist won the 200 breaststroke, making him our first ACC Champion since 2010.
Olympic Trials
We currently have eight swimmers qualified for Olympic Trials in Omaha at the end of June. That's the focus as we move into our off-season.
